Chivalrous Knight:
Two years have passed since the UAE began its humanitarian and relief work in the Gaza Strip, demonstrating solidarity with exhausted families and bringing smiles to the residents through a series of initiatives, projects, and diverse aid programs targeting various groups affected by the war in Gaza. Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 supported patients, widows, orphans, and people with special needs, striving to alleviate the catastrophic situation in the Strip.
Emirati aid accounted for 45% of the total assistance delivered to Gaza by international organizations and institutions, reflecting the UAE’s efforts under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Since the start of the operation on 5 November 2023, 7,722 trucks carrying diverse Emirati aid reached Gaza, along with 21 ships loaded with tens of thousands of tons of supplies. Additionally, the air-drop initiative “Birds of Goodness” delivered 4,076 tons of food to Gaza residents during a period of severe hunger.
Despite the challenges, the UAE embodied the highest humanitarian values over these two years, distributing 1,575,187 clothing items to families, 141,503 hygiene kits, 20,495 tents for displaced persons, 532,671 food parcels covering the needs of hundreds of thousands of families, 470,668 boxes of dates, and 244 tons of cleaning supplies to protect family health.
On the medical front, the UAE was the first to intervene urgently to support Gaza’s health sector, fearing total collapse. In December 2023, it established a field hospital in Al-Arish, providing services to approximately 52,960 residents, in addition to a floating hospital that treated around 20,000 patients, alongside 1,200 tons of medical supplies and 33 ambulances for transporting patients and the injured. The UAE also funded a $5 million polio vaccination campaign and evacuated 2,630 patients for treatment in the country’s hospitals.
Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 implemented a series of vital projects and repairs in Gaza, including the construction of 6 desalination plants producing 2 million gallons daily, drilling 115 wells, repairing water lines across governorates, and providing 36 water tankers to serve the Coastal Water and Municipalities Authority. These efforts ensured access to desalinated water for displaced persons in tents after the destruction of local water sources, including a desalinated water pipeline serving approximately 60,000 people daily.
Amid the severe hunger affecting Gaza residents, Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 provided critical support to community kitchens and bakeries, assisting 132 kitchens, 45 bakeries, producing 7,000,000 meals, and 1,100,000 loaves of bread for displaced families.
